Standing
opposite Memorial Square, overlooking the lake and park land
surrounding it, the Bennett Bird Art Gallery consists of two large
gallery rooms and various smaller spaces, sharing their premises with
Seven Seas Music Studios and Music In Fusion. Music and art are
intermingled throughout the building.
The Bennett Bird Art Gallery was established in 2006 by artists Naomi
Bennett and Marlene Bird as a place in which to present their work
directly to the public. By integrating their paintings and
sculptures with the music store and school, they hope to provide an
inviting, natural context in which people can view their art.
The
Bennett Bird Art Gallery building, located at 70 - 44 Dunlop Street E, has been a Barrie,
Ontario landmark for over a hundred
years.
The Gallery displays the abstract oil paintings of
Naomi Bennett and the miniature dioramas- miniature scenes within a
container- of Marlene Bird. The Gallery will also host surprise
special events from time to time.
